This
is a photograph of Emogene Thompson’s automobile in the driveway of the Gwinnco
Muffler Shop on the morning of April 16, 1993. When found, the victim was
slumped over to the right in the driver’s seat. The vehicle was found with all
four of its self-locking doors locked and only the driver’s window partially
opened instead of fully opened as shown in the photograph.
The first police officer on the scene taped off the
automobile, using traffic cones and other devices borrowed from the muffler
shop. That officer though, taped off the car to only 1 or 2 feet surrounding
the vehicle even though he could see the gunshot wounds and could not at the time
determine whether the gun used was a revolver or an automatic or even some type
of rifle.
